East Riding of Yorkshire Ward Councillors, David and Barbara Jeffreys have been busy working in Old Goole to deliver projects for the benefit of residents.
One of the projects the couple have been involved with is the installation of chin-up and parallel bars and special Safamat surfacing mesh in South Park. The £3,820 bars and surfacing were funded thanks to a grant from the Goole Fields Windfarm Community Fund. Cllr Barbara Jeffreys said: “It has been well documented that exercise and being outdoors in the fresh air is extremely therapeutic for physical and mental wellbeing, so this equipment will be really beneficial for the residents of Old Goole.” She added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Goole Fields Windfarm Community Fund for completely funding this equipment, as well as to the Goole Town Council grounds, parks and amenities officers, who have worked hard to put these pieces of equipment in place through all weathers.”
The councillors were also instrumental in the removal of around 20 conifer trees which were overhanging the footpaths on Swinefleet Road. Cllr David Jeffreys said: “It has taken us nearly 18 months to have the trees removed. They were overhanging the footpath and the falling leaves and needles were making the footpath slippery and dangerous for pedestrians. “The trees were also blocking the street lighting so we spoke with MP Andrew Percy and ABP to have them removed, making the paths much safer.”
